Single door fridge repairs: what goes wrong
A single door fridge has one compressor, one thermostat, a static evaporator that doubles as the freezer box, and a door. There is no fan, no defrost heater and no electronics on most models, so when it stops cooling the list of suspects is short. That makes it one of the cheapest fridges to repair and one of the most sensible to keep running for years.

Why does the freezer box in my single door fridge ice up so fast?+
Warm, humid air is reaching the evaporator. The usual causes are a door gasket that no longer seals, a door that is not aligned, or the freezer box flap left open. Our technician checks the seal with a paper strip test and replaces the gasket if it fails.
Is a single door fridge worth repairing?+
