Ice machine repairs: what goes wrong
An ice machine is a refrigeration system plus a water system plus a control sequence, and a fault in any of the three stops the ice. Water has to reach the machine at the right pressure, be pumped over or into a freezing evaporator, freeze into cubes or flakes, then be released in a harvest cycle by hot gas or a heater, and the cycle has to repeat under the control of sensors and a board.

Why are the ice cubes from my machine small and cloudy?+
Scale on the evaporator, a weak water flow from a blocked filter or valve, or a low gas charge. Cloudy cubes in particular point to scale and water quality. A descale and a check of the water system usually fixes it.
My ice machine is running but no ice drops. What is wrong?+
The harvest cycle is not working, which can be a failed harvest valve or heater, a sensor or board fault, or a machine that has lost its refrigerant charge and is only partly freezing. We test the cycle and repair the failed part.
Can you come to a bar at night if the ice machine stops?+
